Risk of a truffle ceremony, it's safe!

We've listed the risks for you

As the RIVM concluded back in the year 2000, psilocybin and psilocin pose no risks to public health. No physical or mental dependence occurs and it is safe for the user.

Risk of a truffle ceremony

Risk of a truffle ceremony? Fortunately, there are virtually no risks associated with the use of psilocybin or psilocin, the active ingredients in truffles and magic mushrooms. As the RIVM concluded back in the year 2000, psilocybin and psilocin pose no risks to public health.

No physical or mental dependence occurs and it is safe for the user. A few still experience temporary negative feelings after the truffle ceremony, but the rest of the participants are euphoric from the special experience for a long time.

Summary of risks

A truffle ceremony is a gathering in which participants consume psychedelic truffles to experience an altered state of consciousness. While some people report positive effects, it is important to understand that there are also risks associated with using psychedelics. Here are some of the main risks of a truffle ceremony:

01

Risk of a bad trip

Risk of a bad trip: A bad trip can occur if the truffles are taken in an environment that is not safe and familiar. If a person is not in the right frame of mind or is worried about the environment, it can lead to intense anxiety and panic.

We will guide you in a professional way to get through any bad trip as easily as possible and place or process it appropriately.

02

Risk of psychological disorders

Risk of psychological disorders: Although truffles and other psychedelics are used in some cases to treat psychological disorders, they can also exacerbate existing disorders or cause new psychological problems.

This can be especially risky for people with a history of mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety disorders or bipolar disorder. We screen extensively for these mental health issues through the intake form that is part of your application.

If we identify mental health problems we will advise you not to participate.

03

Risk of physical complications

Although truffles are generally considered safe, they can lead to physical complications, such as increased heart rate and blood pressure, nausea and confusion. These temporary complications can be dangerous for people with existing health problems, such as cardiovascular disease.

In summary, while some people may have positive experiences with truffle ceremonies, there are some risks associated with the use of psychedelics. It is important to understand these risks before you decide to participate in a truffle ceremony and to make sure you take the proper precautions to reduce the likelihood of negative experiences.

A truffle ceremony for inspiration

During the guided psychedelic journey you will experience with us, you will be completely safe and in trusted hands. Depending on the size of the group, we work with multiple facilitators. We complete truffle ceremonies at multiple locations throughout the Netherlands.

For this, we do have some “ground rules” that we go over with you in advance to keep the risks as low as possible. This concerns the safety and optimal preparation for each participant’s spiritual journey.

Incidents

The number of incidents that occur with truffles or magic mushrooms is relatively small and many times smaller than other substances such as alcohol, cannabis, XTC, Iboga or LSD. Therefore, the risk is low.

Because the latter three substances are illegal, there is a lack of ceremonies where these substances can be safely applied. Ayahuasca, although illegal as of 2018, is still widely given at various locations in the Netherlands, sometimes in a modified form as psilohuasca. Scientific research is being conducted on all resources.

Did you know that alcohol is the biggest cause of misery worldwide and it carries many risks?

Before, during and after the ceremony

At Truffle Ceremony.com, you don’t just come for the truffles or the magical trip. You chose us because of our care, trust and professionalism. Prior to the ceremony, during and well after, we provide care you would expect from us. This is how we keep any risk low. What care we offer you:

When booking a truffle ceremony, you will immediately be asked to fill out an extensive questionnaire. From this intake form, we can make an assessment of you as a person, your life, your wishes, any medications and illnesses, etc. Therefore, it is important to complete this questionnaire truthfully.

Prior to the ceremony, we will go through this questionnaire together to get your intentions clear and discuss your life. During this introductory meeting, we get to know each other better and trust in each other grows. During the inner journey, you will find that this conversation has been very important.

During the ceremony, we are at your service when needed. When you are inconsolable or when you want to go to the toilet, in all situations we help you.

When you wake up again from your journey we talk about all that you and we have experienced. Deeper layers are touched by our questioning. This is the healing process. When you are fully awake we serve some tasty snacks in bed. When we are done with the ceremony, we conclude it and eat some soup and sandwiches together.

When you are clear again you may go home.

Back home, you will find an email in your mailbox from us with some advice for the next few days. This email also includes our phone number that you can call if you have questions or feel the need to exchange thoughts. We are always available to our participants.

Bad trip

When a participant experiences a bad trip, the trip is accompanied by feelings of anxiety and/or panic. Participants think they remain in the unpleasant experience; they feel they cannot get out of it. An experienced and level-headed facilitator is always present during the ceremonies to calm and reassure the participant. He or she also monitors the set and setting.

After all, we do not drink along with the truffle tea. Bad trips do not occur in our ceremonial setting. When people start experimenting with truffles or magic mushrooms on their own, the risk of a bad trip is much higher. Are you going to use truffles or magic mushrooms independently? Then always make sure to have someone with you who remains sober, experienced and whom you trust.

After the ceremony

In some cases, psilocybin can cause fatigue, temporary depressive thoughts or feelings of anxiety. This rarely happens on a national basis, and there is always full recovery of the participant, according to RIVM.

Sometimes the psilocybin touches a sensitive nerve because, for example, a childhood trauma is touched. During the ceremony, the trauma may be released and processed with the help of our therapists if desired. Rarely does a truffle ceremony participant need outside help after the ceremony.
