In a world in which we are constantly exposed to stimuli, expectations and distractions, we become increasingly distant from our own core. We live fast, think a lot and often feel too little. The silence in which you can truly meet yourself is becoming rare. And it is precisely in this emptiness that something arises that many people recognize: a feeling of restlessness, emptiness or dissatisfaction.
To alleviate that feeling, we look for ways to feel better. We reach for behaviors that provide short-term relief but, in the long run, move us further away from ourselves. Think excessive use of alcohol, social media, food, work or other forms of addictive behavior.
But what if addiction is not a problem to be solved … but a signal that wants to be understood?
Addiction is a call for connection
Within the vision of Jim van Os it is becoming increasingly clear that psychological complaints cannot be separated from our need for connection. Connection with others, but especially connection with ourselves. According to him, the focus in the mainstream approach is often too much on labels and diagnoses, while the real question is: what happened to make someone feel this way?
From that perspective, addiction can be seen as a creative (but ultimately limiting) way of dealing with inner pain, tension or emptiness. It is an attempt by the system to find balance, to regulate something too overwhelming to feel directly.
For example, when you notice that you keep reaching for your phone, a glass of wine, or some other form of distraction, it is often not a coincidence. It is a pattern that originated somewhere. A pattern that once had a function. But what once helped may later actually get in the way.
The problem is not that you are doing something “wrong. The problem is that you are getting further and further away from what you actually feel.
How addiction takes you out of connection
Addiction works subtly. It often starts innocently. Just relaxing for a moment. Not feeling for a while. Just escaping the rush or tension. But slowly something shifts.
You notice that you need it more often. That it becomes harder to be without it. That you are less able to feel what you need. That you are less present in the moment.
And without realizing it, distance is created:
- distance from your body
- distance from your emotions
- distance from your intuition
- distance from other people
What remains is often a feeling of emptiness, while at the same time trying to fill more.
This is the paradox of addiction: the more you try to avoid something, the stronger it remains present in the background.
The way back begins with awareness
Real change does not come from trying harder to quit. Not by forcing or controlling yourself. But by starting to understand what is really going on.
Awareness is the first step.
That means being willing to stand still. To look at your behavior without judgment. To become curious about the question: what am I actually trying not to feel?
It takes courage to honestly explore that question. Because often you end up with old pain, unprocessed experiences or deeply held beliefs.
But exactly there also lies the entrance to real change.
Back to connecting with yourself
At Truffle-ceremony.com, we believe that everything you are looking for is already within you. Only layers have come over it in the course of your life. Protective mechanisms, beliefs and patterns that were once necessary but are now limiting you.
The process of reconnecting is not a process of adding, but of letting go.
During our truffle ceremonies and within the Program for Transformation, we will guide you through the process of:
- slow down and get out of your head
- reconnecting with your body
- feeling what is really going on inside you
- Gain insight into underlying patterns
- Creating space for processing and healing
In a safe and supported setting, the opportunity arises to meet yourself at a deeper layer. Without masks, distractions or numbing.
From anesthesia to feeling
Where addiction is about avoiding feeling, connection is about allowing it.
This does not mean that everything suddenly becomes easy. On the contrary. Sometimes, on the contrary, you come into contact with pieces that you pushed away for a long time. But the difference is that now you are no longer alone. There is space. That there is guidance. That there is awareness.
Feeling what wants to be felt creates movement.
Emotions that were stuck come back into flow. Insights that were hidden become visible. Patterns that were automatic are broken.
And step by step, something new emerges: inner peace, clarity and a deeper connection with yourself.

Sustainable change from within
Many people try to change their behavior through willpower. They make agreements with themselves, set goals and try to do things “differently. And sometimes that works for a while. But if the underlying cause is not seen, the pattern persists.
Sustainable change comes from within.
When you understand why you do what you do
When you feel what wants to be felt
When you reconnect with yourself
Then behavior changes naturally.
You have less need for anesthesia, because you no longer have to flee. You experience more peace because you no longer have to fight against yourself.
And that is exactly where true freedom begins.
You don't have to do it alone
The path to self can be intense. It requires honesty, courage and a willingness to look within. But it’s also a path you don’t have to walk alone.
At Truffle-ceremony.com, experienced facilitators are ready to support you in this process. With attention, respect and a deep commitment to your personal development.
Whether you are struggling with addictive behaviors, stuck in patterns or simply feel that more is possible in your life, the first step is always the same:
